Abstract
The Wings to Fly case study demonstrates the need for educational support to the most marginalized youth, even when free education exists. It further illustrates how a bursary program, if it intends to produce successful scholars who give back to society and are active economic members, needs to provide more than just financial assistance. It needs to have a culturally sensitive and transparent approach to select scholars, and once selected, provide scholars with mentorship, guidance on how to be a leader, work experience, and an ethic of giving back.
