Abstract
This research adapts the World Bank’s Teach classroom observation tool for use in Rwandan secondary STEM education. Developed for the Leaders in Teaching (LIT) initiative, the project applied the adapted tool to video recordings of lessons in 103 schools to assess teaching quality. Key findings confirm that adapting Teach to the local context is feasible, providing reliable insights when researchers are intensively trained. However, using video creates trade-offs, like difficulty capturing dialogue and equity issues, necessitating high-quality equipment and strict privacy protocols. The findings will be used to analyze LIT's impact and inform policy.
