- Abstract
- This article, published on November 26, 2024, discusses the UEMOA EdTech Conference, which took place in Dakar from November 25-26, 2024. Organized by EtriLabs in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, the gathering convened over 150 participants—including innovators and entrepreneurs—to discuss transforming education through innovation and scaling EdTech startups in Benin and Senegal. The conference concluded the first cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship in the UEMOA region. EtriLabs, the implementing tech hub, accelerated 12 high-potential EdTech companies with technological solutions ranging from online learning to educational audio content. This initiative serves as a crucial catalyst to address major regional challenges, such as limited access to quality education and inadequate digital infrastructure in West Africa. The ultimate objective, supported by the Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning, is to make education more inclusive, relevant, and accessible using strategically applied technology.
