Abstract
This paper maps teacher education priorities outlined in education sector strategic plans and policies across 41 different African countries and three Nigerian states. It aims to clarify the extent to which countries are prioritizing the development of three skill sets among teachers that are identified as priorities in the Mastercard Foundation’s Secondary Education in Africa report: foundational skills, pedagogical skills, and digital skills. This paper was prepared for the Mastercard Foundation report, Secondary Education in Africa: Preparing Youth for the Future of Work.
