Abstract
This case study outlines ICIPE's efforts to promote gender equality in apiculture and sericulture development interventions. As a learning institution, ICIPE has implemented and tested various strategies to enhance the participation of young women in its programs. The case study highlights approaches such as gender-sensitive targeting and recruitment, setting minimum participation targets, customizing training activities, and providing access to financial and market services. It also emphasizes the importance of gender-sensitive monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), the institutionalization of a safeguarding culture, and the establishment of Youth Advisory Groups (YAG). These initiatives aim to empower young women and ensure their effective involvement in all program interventions.
