History Spotlight 5 - Symposium on Financial Inclusion (SoFI)

In 2024, the Corporate History team launched “Our History, Our Legacy,” a three-year campaign to connect all employees globally to the Foundation’s history, milestones, and ways of working. One of the tactics within this promotional campaign included the release of "History Spotlights", which highlight the Foundation's past work, and emphasize its unique approach to philanthropy through trust-based partnerships, collaborative learning, and empowerment of youth in driving sustainable impact.

This second History Spotlight was posted to the Foundation's internal communication channels on July 23, 2024 and included the following contextual information:

Throwback to this month in 2013 when we kicked off the first Mastercard Foundation Symposium on Financial Inclusion (SoFI). Partnering with the Boulder Institute for Microfinance, our goal was simple but powerful: promote client-centred solutions for meaningful impact. SoFI marked the start of an annual tradition, from 2013 to 2017, bringing together conventional and unconventional players to build networks and foster partnerships, illustrating that the most effective learning happens when we come together.
