Abstract
The African Association of Universities (AAU) and Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) aim to advance structural change in African tertiary education. They analyzed faculty demographics in Ghana with Population Reference Bureau (PRB) to identify gaps. The project supports data management, recruitment strategies, and policy planning for Ghana and beyond. The objectives of the Demographics of African Faculty pilot in Ghana, presented in this report, were to establish an analysis of the “demography of African faculty”, suggest forecasting and projections of future possible supply and demand for faculty for Ghana and contribute to laying the ground for evidence-based policy planning in this area for Ghana, and to establish a methodology which can replicated and used to extend the analysis of the “demographics of faculties” to other African countries.
