Abstract
This document is a final project report on the Mastercard Foundation-funded COVID-19 Recovery and Resilience Program, implemented by Amref Health Africa from June 2020 to July 2021, aimed to flatten Kenya’s COVID-19 curve. The project trained 30,748 community health volunteers via the Leap platform and 33,256 healthcare providers via the Jibu platform. Amref enhanced national testing capacity by conducting 5,849 tests at its central lab and supporting 33 GeneXpert sites with equipment and training. Results turnaround time dropped to two hours. Challenges included low course completion rates and delays in test cartridge approvals. The program strengthened Kenya's health systems and recommended scaling mental health support and digital training.
