Abstract
This memo summarizes discussions from Joint Consultations on Teacher Development in Africa, convened by UNESCO’s International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa (IICBA) on March 18-19, 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the meeting, Mastercard Foundation staff also convened a separate set of focus groups from teachers from across several sub-Saharan African countries, with assistance from IICBA. The objective was to meet with African teachers and policymakers involved in teacher training on the continent to solicit input into the Foundation’s Secondary Education in Africa: Preparing Youth for the Future of Work Report.
