Abstract
The research report, "Building a Scholars Community: Partner Perspectives," outlines efforts to establish a lasting community framework for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. This framework aims to provide holistic, long-term support centred on Transformative Leadership and the Give Back / Go Back (GBGB) commitment. A major challenge noted by partners is the lack of clarity from the Foundation concerning the precise expectations of GBGB, leading to significant anxiety and "panic" among scholars regarding their future career and educational options. To strengthen community identity, the report recommends the Foundation provide clear guidelines and varied GBGB models. Furthermore, the community structure should respect differences between secondary and tertiary scholars, offering designated spaces for their unique needs, while utilizing alumni mentorship and in-person gatherings as critical organizing tools.
