- Abstract
- This article, published on December 19, 2024, profiles the story of Ugabrush, which was created by Enoch Muwanguzi in 2019, after realizing simple items, like shoe brushes, were imported from China. Determined to restore pride in "Made in Uganda" goods, the Mastercard Foundation Scholar developed a durable alternative using local cow tail hair. He secured initial seed funding from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. Later, a $20,000 grant in 2024 via the NSSF Hi-Innovator Program, an initiative of the Mastercard Foundation, allowed him to expand his factory, fulfilling his mission to create jobs for underserved communities.
