Abstract
This is an impact report for a mid-term evaluation of the Africa Careers Network (ACN). At the midpoint of its 7-year program, the ACN surpassed its target of 1,000 student placements, marking a pivotal growth phase. ACN primarily benefits students through job placements and career counseling, with 73% stating internships are crucial for securing employment in Africa. It has been especially effective for African Leadership Academy (ALA) alumni, while Mastercard Foundation Scholars show lower placement due to limited awareness and access. Employers commend ACN for supplying top-tier, motivated talent and expanding internship offerings, though scaling is required to meet all demand. ACN fills a unique gap in the Pan-African talent landscape by providing a selective service for entry-level leaders. Key improvement areas include expanding networking opportunities, increasing support for non-traditional career paths, addressing visa and logistical barriers, and enhancing digital engagement. With high demand from students and employers alike, ACN is well-positioned for sustainable expansion while maintaining its high-touch, impact-driven model.
